The Magazine Editing course is an exciting hands-on class that
transforms a group of 20 journalism students into a magazine staff
for a semester. Students work diligently to produce CURB, a high-quality
            magazine that is ultimately distributed
throughout Wisconsin. Emulating a real newsroom, each student has a
specific staff position in the business, design, editorial or Web
departments. Staffers work closely with one another to meet demanding
deadlines and in the process learn about the interconnectedness of
            every
aspect of magazine production: the best techniques in print
layout, what it takes to develop an editorial philosophy for a target
market, how to design a sophisticated Web site, the best ways to sell
advertising, how to create a Public Relations plan and much more.
