Young Professionals of Milwaukee

by Sophia Estante

The hippest young professional group in Wisconsin may also be the newest. Upayan Sen Gupta and Prashanth, two young professionals working for GE Medical Systems, launched Young Professionals of Milwaukee in 2001. The group is not a social club, a forum for professional training or a marketing vehicle. It is an organization that fosters community service, mentorship, the exchange of ideas—and showcasing Milwaukee.

Around Town, a series of monthly events held at clubs, bars and restaurants, features the best of Milwaukee’s nightlife. ELSO Invite, which stands for Emerging Leader Service Opportunities, connects young professionals to non-profit, community organizations. The young professional lends expertise and gets experience. Mosaic Cafes bring a group of diverse individuals together and gets them talking—and debating—about controversial issues affecting people in their twenties and thirties.
