How to get involved in Girls Rock Camp Madison/Ladies Rock Camp Madison

Ready to rock out or looking to help others follow their rock ‘n’ roll desires? There are many ways to get involved — for women, men and kids, too.

• Sign up for camp. If you have a daughter interested in exploring her rock potential, e-mail info@grcmadison.org and ask to sign up for the GRCM e-newsletter. Two camp sessions are planned for summer 2011. The first session is scheduled for June 20-24, with the showcase on the 26. The second session will take place from July 18-22, with the showcase on the 24. If you are interested in signing up yourself, the next LRCM is scheduled for February 18, 19 and 20, 2011. • Become an instructor or band coach. Already a female musician? Become a mentor and a friend for the campers. Visit www.grcmadison.org/instructors.html to find out more and fill out an application. Both paid and volunteer positions are available.
• Volunteer. You don’t have to be a lady rocker to help out. GRCM says they can always use help when it comes to marketing, web design, t-shirt design or fundraising. If you have experience handling musical equipment, you could become a roadie — loading and setting up gear, and making sure everything works. Helping spread the word through social media or volunteering at merchandise and information tables at fundraisers and festivals is a great way to contribute, too. • Perform at a fundraiser. Are you currently a performing musician? Send GRCM an e-mail to find out how you can play a fundraiser gig. You don’t have to be in an all-female band.
• Donate or become a sponsor. Own a business and want to lend a hand? Donations are always welcome. Your gift of equipment or money will help more girls and women turn their rock dreams into reality. Anyone can help sponsor a girl or woman seeking financial aid in order to attend camp.
